From appetizers to entrees and steaks to cakes, there’s a cooking show for everyone to enjoy. These are our top 5 cooking shows now streaming on Hulu that will get you in the mood to cook up some good grub!
1. Chopped
Let’s get chopping! The series Chopped is a cooking show competition that allows amateur chefs to show their cooking skills and win a cash prize. The chefs have to prepare an appetizer, entree, and dessert with a few secret ingredients that are pretty bizarre! Potato chips in dessert, fruit in appetizers and chocolate in entrees are just a few of the weird combinations these chefs have to deal with. In every round, a chef gets “chopped” because their dish was either inedible, lacked creativity, or missed a secret ingredient. If you like to see a challenge in the kitchen, this is the cooking show for you!
2. Guy’s Grocery Games
The man, the legend, the...Guy! This is one of Guy Fieri’s series Grocery Games where amateur chefs around the United States take up the challenge to make a meal with grocery items in a personal grocery store, but there’s a catch. These contestants only have a limited time to find the food items and sometimes some limitations make it a bit harder for them. Sometimes they can only use processed goods, or there’s a key ingredient that they can not use. Try making a meal without fresh meat, vegetables, or dairy! Yikes. The person who makes it through each round will then have to play a grocery game where they are given a budget and they have to find all the items on their giving shipping list. If they win, they win the cash prize! If innovative grocery meals interest you, then watch these chefs get creative with what they got!
3. Cutthroat Kitchen
The name says it all! If you like an intense competition where you’re expected to play dirty then this is the show for you. Cutthroat Kitchen is a cooking show competition where professional chefs are put up to the test by cooking with many obstacles and sabotages. Each chef is given $25,000 cash to do whatever they want, including paying their way out of punishments. No one is safe! Not only does the show provide their own sabotage such as playing a game for their ingredients or cooking with limited appliances, but the chefs can sabotage other chefs as well. The last one standing will keep the leftover money they have left throughout the competition. The competition is pure torture and frustration for the contestants, but it’s highly entertaining. If you want to see how far someone will get to win, watch the madness begin!
4. Top Chef
Ever heard of America’s Next Top Model? It’s the same thing but with cooking and professional chefs! Top Chef is a cooking competition where professional chefs come together to battle out the title for Top Chef and cash prizes. The contestants have to go through a series of challenges and obstacles that will put their cooking skills to the test. A real top chef can handle any obstacle that comes their way, even cooking a meal in 2 minutes….crazy! They travel all around the United States and even sometimes outside of the United States and cook for celebrities and influencers from around the world. With a competition this extensive, there is also drama to the max. If you want to know what it takes to be the best of the best, this show is for you!
5. Cake Wars
Time to get baking! Cake Wars is just as it seems, four bakers from across America have to go head to head to make extravagant cakes that are both creative and tasty. Each episode has two rounds, round one is called “Batter Up” and it requires each contestant to make a cake with a unique ingredient that goes with the theme provided. After a contestant is eliminated from the round, 3 contestants remain and they have the chance to take the judges critiques from the first round and create a colossal cake that goes with the theme, creative, and delicious. The winner of that round will receive a $10,000 cash prize and have their cake featured at an event! If you have a sweet tooth and love to bake, you will love seeing these beautiful cakes!
